  4. Can I get a paid receipt for taxes paid by mail?
    • Your cancelled check can act as a receipt for payment. If a stamped receipt is desired, send a self-addressed and stamped envelope with your entire bill and payment.
  5. What if I don't receive a bill for my taxes?
    • You may find and print a copy of your bill through the Property Tax Search, or call the office and ask for a duplicate copy. Also, verify we are sending the bill to the proper address. Not receiving a bill does not prevent penalties. Bills are mailed in January and June, please reach out if you did not receive your bill.

  10. If I mail my taxes and they don't arrive until after the due date, will I receive a penalty?

  11. Why did I get a tax bill when I just purchased the home?
    • Real estate taxes are paid in arrears. Typically, credit is given to the new owner for any pro-rated taxes at the time of sale. This information can be found in the closing papers. If you have any questions regarding the closing, please contact your closing agent (bank/lender, title office, etc.).
  12. How do I find out what I paid last year for my property taxes?
    • You can find this information in the Real Estate Information Property Search. A search can be completed with the parcel number, owner name, or property address. After you have located your parcel, the payments made will appear in the Payment History section.
  13. My taxes are delinquent. When will my name be published in the paper?
    • The County Auditor is responsible for publishing the Delinquent Tax list. To assure your name is not published, it is recommended you pay the tax due by the due date. The payment must be received, not postmarked, by the due date on the delinquent bill.
  14. How long do I have before my property is foreclosed on?
