As a part of the Northwest Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Districts, the Fulton Soil and Water Conservation District is presenting the 17th Annual Black Swamp Educators Extravaganza. This year’s theme is “Raising the Standards” and will be held June 17th, 18th and 19th, 2014 at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge in Oak Harbor and Kelleys Island, OH.
This program is for educators, retired educators, or anyone interested in the information presented. Monday and Tuesday’s programs will be held at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. Monday’s topic is “Project Underground and Fracking” with a visit to Castalia Quarry and Erie Metroparks. Tuesday’s topic is “Energy” with a tour of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge and seminars on “Facing the Future,” “Understanding Sustainability,” and “Buy, Use, or Toss.” Wednesday’s program will be held on Kelley’s Island, and will focus on the topic of “Aquatics.” Discussion will include the Glacial Grooves, “Migration Headache” at the Wildlife Center and Northshore Beach, “Where Does the Water Run at the Quarry?” and “Plastic Voyages” at the Winery.
Attendance to this conference is limited so pre-registration is required. The registration deadline is Friday, May 30, 2014, with an early-bird deadline by Friday May 9th, 2014. Local credits may be available through your Local Professional Development Committee. Attendees will be presented with a certificate verifying your attendance and the number of contact hours.
