The Fulton County Board of Commissioners is seeking an Assistant Dog Warden. 

Position: Assistant County Dog Warden

Salary Range:  $14.00 to $17.00 per hour

The following are duties and responsibilities that will be under the position of Assistant Dog Warden for the Board of County Commissioners, Fulton County, Ohio.

Make and maintain record of all dogs owned, kept, and harbored in the county; Patrol and seize, impound on sight all dogs running at large; Patrol and seize, impound all dogs more than three months of age found not wearing a valid registration tag (except those controlled by the owner or its handler) Provide weekly reports, in writing, to the Board of Commissioners or their designee of all dogs seized, impounded, redeemed and destroyed and of all claims for damage to animals, fowl, or poultry inflicted by dogs; Sell dog licenses, collect license fees in cooperation with the County Auditor; Collect and deposit on a daily basis all fees for care of dogs; Assist the general public when visiting the pound ; Provide for the general well being of dogs under the care of Fulton County; Arrange and perform for the humane destruction of dogs as provided by law; Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Ohio Driver’s license; Must be able to lift one hundred (100)  pounds; Enforce all aspects of O.R.C. 955.

Perform all other duties as assigned by the County Dog Warden and/or County Administrator.

Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of (1) effective animal care; (2) detail and result oriented; (3) ability to interpret and follow written and oral instructions; (4) perform various tasks; (5) ability to perform physical labor, (6) maintain basic inventory records; (7) ability to work with others; (8) must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Ohio driver’s license; (9) ability to work weekends and nights  Be able to be on call – 24hr shifts  Be able to pass firearms training.  Be able to complete euthanasia training.
